Justin Oh was born in Malaysia in the mid-1970's. He came to London and studied at Central St. Martins College of Fashion, as well as the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1995.
His first step on the fashion career, was to work for Yohji Yamamoto, the famous Japanese designer.
He started his own label in 1996 in London. He modifies classics such as the shirt and trenchcoat and re-invents traditional tailoring. His street smart garments combine modern femininity with a sportswear edge. He is not afraid to experiment with ultra-modern fabrics.
In 2000 he launched a collection of mens shirts and shoes to add to his womenswear.
His vision for Spring/Summer 2001 included bold stripes and octagon prints, with splashes of pure colour, and lots of sheen translucent fabrics. He also used a silver haired model in her 50's.
Spring/Summer 2003
Justin Oh presented his Spring/Summer 2003 collection during London Fashion week in September 2002, and on the left is an outfit from that collection. He presented numerous variations on jackets and skirts with different lengths and intricate detailing.
Autumn/Winter 2003
Oh took part in the London Fashion Week held in February 2003 and he showed his Winter collection. On the right is an outfit from that show.
He presented a beautiful range of wearable separates.
Spring/Summer 2004
During London Fashion Week in September 2003, Justin Oh showed his collection for next Spring. An outfit from the show is shown on the left.
He designed light and pretty clothes for girls who want upbeat and easy summer style. Polka dot dresses in pleated cotton or soft satin opened the show, with puff ball skirts and capelet boleros adding to the silhouette. Ultra worn and super soft epitomising the mood of pretty, wearable clothes.
Autumn/Winter 2004
During London Fashion Week in February 2004, Justin showed his collection for Autumn/Winter. A red velvet dress from the collection is shown on the right.
He reinvented traditional style in a fresh modern way using natural fabrics like cottons, twills, tweeds and crumpled velvet.
Spring/Summer 2005
During London Fashion Week in September 2004, Justin Oh showed his collection for next Spring. An outfit from the collection is shown on the left.
His show was presented at the Victoria Miro Gallery in London on 20th September. It was his usual success. He recently also showed a collection in Japan. His clothes are now available not only in the U.K. and United States, but in Russia, Italy and the Far East.
Autumn/Winter 2005
During London Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2005, held in February 2005, Justin showed his collection, and one of the outfits is shown on the right.
Taking a break
In September 2005, Justin Oh announced that he would not be showing his usual London Fashion Week collections for Spring/Summer 2006 and Autumn/Winter 2006. He said that he would prefer to spend the money on expanding his sales organisation in New York, Paris and Milan. However buyers can see his clothes at his retail outlets.
