Salvatore Ferragamo was born in Naples, Italy, in 1898. He designed the most astonishing shoes the world has ever seen. His children have created one of the world's most luxurious labels, marketing clothing, accessories and shoes.

The Ferragamo house is a family concern. Mother Wanda keeps an overall eye on everything. The three sons of Salvatore all take care of different activities. Massimo, the youngest looks after the United States from New York. Leonardo Ferragamo, from the Italian headquarters, has moved the overall concern also into fashion design, and supplies exquisite garments world-wide. Ferragamo is also known for printed scarves, soft cashmere shawls and elegant jewellery. They are now a million dollar concern.
Salvatore had 3 daughters, Fulvia, Giovanna and Fiamma. Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo, looks after the couture and is seen here on the catwalk.

The third Generation
Salvatore's grand-daughter Vivia (daughter ofFerrucio Ferragamo CEO of Ferragamo, Italy) set up her own London-based label in September 2002 for womenswear. She presented her first catwalk show during the London Fashion Week of February 2003. She has a very feminine, young, fresh look and hopes to be successful. She had spent 3 years learning about design at Emanuel Ungaro which she says was a very positive experience.
Marc Audibet joined the Ferragamo Italy design team for the company in 2000. He left after presenting collections for 4 seasons. Nicole Fischelis, former fashion director of Saks Fifth Avenue store in New York, is also part of the design team.
Graeme Black
In April 2002, Scottish designer Graeme Black joined Ferragamo as chief designer. He was earlier with Armani for many years.
Spring/Summer 2003
Graeme Black presented the Salvatore Ferragamo Spring/Summer 2003 collection in Milan in September 2002 which was very well received. This is an outfit from that collection.
Giorgio Armani sat in the front row, to cheer on the man he had trained for six years.
Fall 2003
During the Milan Fashion Week of March 2003, Graeme Black presented his second collection for Ferragamo. He showed extremely attractive coloured leather garments which were were very well received. An outfit from the collection is shown on the right.
Spring/Summer 2004
Graeme Black's ready-to-wear collection for Ferragamo for this season, was shown during the Milan Fashion Week in October 2003. One outfit from the collection is shown on the left.
Fall/Winter 2004
The Ferragamo Winter 2004 collection designed by Graeme Black, was presented in Milan during Fashion Week in February 2004. An evening dress from the show is shown on the right.
He also sent out tailored coats emphasized the fine tailoring that he has brought to the house. He showed his skill with pantsuits, culottes, pencil skirts and even a pony skin skirt teamed with a chiffon top. His attention to detail included a flower pattern worked in relief on a leather jacket.
Autumn/Winter 2005
Graeme Black presented his Ferragamo Autumn/Winter collection during Milan Fashion Week in February 2005.
He translated architectural lines into feminine shapes on the catwalk, turning geometric at times. He used superb detailing like rounded shoulders, collars that gracefully end into plackets, fur trims, delicate laces and tiny buttons. Eveningwear turned metallic, one shoulder tops or dolman sleeves trimmed with lace, deep V neckline cashmere knits paired with floor length skirts embellished with Swarovski crystals.
Spring/Summer 2006
Milan Fashion Week
Graeme Black presented the Ferragamo Spring/Summer 2006 collection during Milan Fashion Week in September 2005. A black mini dress with V-neck, with a band of white above the knee from the collection is shown on the right.
His collection was inspired by a river cruise on the Bosporus in Turkey. He made the world of mosques and minarets the jumping off point for patterns worked into the fabric. The theme was also played out in the rich turquoise and mauve colours used. Ferragamo beliueves in clothing grown-up women, this was not a collection for little girls. One suede jacket with deep cuffed shorts was extremely elegant. Metallic pink and green shoes accessorized the clothes.
